  • Anti-Spam Filtering Information - Our e-mail server has Anti-Spam filtering enabled. This should help cut down on the amount of spam everybody is receiving. However, our Anti-Spam filters will not delete the suspected Spam e-mail message. Our Anti-Spam filters work by statistical analysis on a weight based system. If a particular message reaches a certain weight based on analytical analysis of it's content, it is marked with a X-Header in the header of the message. This will allow all customers to create rules within their own e-mail client to filter Spam messages and send e-mail marked as Spam in the X-Header to a separate folder or to delete that e-mail message. The format for the X-Header is as follows.
    X-IMAIL-SPAM-(explanation)

    I
n most Advanced e-mail clients like MS Outlook, you can create rules to look for these X-Headers and then filter your mail. Use the words "X-IMAIL-SPAM" when creating rules. If you do not know how to create a rule in your e-mail client, then please consult your E-Mail client’s documentation.
Other scaled down email clients such as Outlook Express do not allow the filtering based on message headers. In this case, you can create a rule in the e-mail control panel at
http://www.724email.com. Login to your account via the control panel and choose "Domain Processing Rules" and then add a rule based on the words X-MAIL-SPAM. (see E-Mail Tips below for details)

IMPORTANT : While our Anti-Spam filters work quite well, it is possible to have some good e-mail marked with the X-Header spam message. This is called a "false positive". The typical false positive rate is about 2 to 3%. It's also possible to have "false negatives", meaning some Spam messages may not get marked with an X-Header. It's your responsibility to filter your mail appropriately and keep an eye on your Spam folder for false positives.

In addition to Statistical analysis, we
have enabled five different  major e-mail blacklists. FiveTen, Spamhaus, YBL, V6net, and SpamCop. Again, these e-mails will not be deleted. An X-Header will be inserted into the header the same as described above.

If you do not delete your spam messages periodically, then your e-mail box will eventually reach it's storage limit and you will not be able to receive any more e-mail.

Notice: We support the FrontPage 2002 server extensions on all Windows NT and Windows 2000 web accounts. This does not mean the FrontPage 2002 server extensions are installed on your web site. We have discovered that upgrading web sites to FrontPage 2002 created a situation where any custom permissions you have on your web site sometimes get wiped out. For this reason, we are upgrading older FrontPage 2000 web sites only upon request. If it appears you do not have the FrontPage 2002 server extensions installed on your website and you want them, then please send an e-mail to support@724hosting.com and we will gladly install them for you.

    Have a great day.
